BJP leader, 2 others attacked over land dispute

JAMMU, Oct 6: Senior BJP leader among three persons were attacked by a group of four persons today over a land dispute in Rani Bagh area under the jurisdiction of police station Satwari.
According to reports, four brothers namely Amrik Singh, Beant Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Amanpreet Singh alias Bicky all sons of Teja Singh of Upper Gadigarh were forcefully trying to encroach upon a piece of land with JCB machine at Rani Bagh area owned by senior BJP leader Pt Ashok Kumar Khajuria and his brothers namely Om Parkash Khajuria and Umesh Khajuria.
Reports further said that the accused party took advantage of the fact that second party was busy in marriage function going on at their home. On receiving the information about encroachment, the second party reached on the spot and tried to stop the encroachers. On this the encroaching party Advocate Amrik Singh and his brothers attacked the second group and later fled from the spot.
The matter was reported at police station Satwari by Pt Ashok Kumar Khajuria and MLC of all the injured was done at Government Medical College & Hospital. The police have taken cognizance of the matter.
When contacted, SDPO South, Deputy SP Ram Singh said we have called both the parties after two days as there is some function going on in the house of one party. He said whosoever is guilty, will be booked under relevant laws.
