KATHUA, Dec 9: Criticising BJP for interfering in the independent constitutional and other institutions, former minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma  (DCC president, Kathua) today said that no body is above Constitution.
While addressing a function held for the felicitation of newly elected Sarpanches and Panches  of  Billawar Constituency along with with party cadre at Dyala Chak today, Dr Sharma said that BJP both at the Centre and State level is trying to de-stablize the Constitutional institutions of the country. “Interference in the Judiciary and CBI besides functioning of the Governor in J&K are the worst examples. It has exposed the BJP and its leadership for its designs,” he said.
The DCC Kathua president further alleged that Modi Govt has failed to deliver on the promises made by it during previous polls. Now, in order to hide their failures and divert attention of common masses they are trying to interfere in independent constitutional institutions. This only reflects the frustration and admission of BJP having lost the upcoming polls.
Ex-MLC Subhash Gupta lambasted BJP for resorting to a conspiracy to change some laws in J&K through Governor which can be changed only after passage in State Legislature by 2/3 majority. “If it happens, it will be termed as `murder of democracy,” Gupta said.
Mr Gupta , a former DCC president for Kathua said that backdoor appointment of Dr Hina Bhat as vice chairperson of KVIB, by Governor’s Administration is most unconstitutional and unethical. It never happened in the past in the State. It has exposed the BJP and lowered the prestige of highest constitutional office in the State.
Both Congress leaders appealed all the newly elected Sarpanches and Panches to work hard for overall developments of their respective Panchayats and  be available to common masses.
KC Khajuria, Kulbhushan Singh, Madhu Choudhary, Surinder Singh, Surinder Kkumar, Capt Tara Chand and others were also present on the occasion.
