BJP Govt harassing farmers for Ring Road Project: Balwan

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug 1: Former MLA and general secretary JKPCC, Thakur Balwan Singh, has lashed out at the BJP Govt and UT Administration for the undue harassment to the land owners and farmers for low assessment of compensation of their lands for the Ring Road project in Jammu and demolition drive without payment of adequate compensation to the affected people.
In a statement former MLA said that the farmers and land owners are struggling for passed quite sometimes for seeking their due compensation as per market rates. But the authorities have crushed their voice and have not sympathically considered their genuine demands. They were being offered meagre compensation for the lands of crores of rupees, which is totally anti- farmers and anti-people approach of BJP Govt & UT Administration.
“It is unfortunate that the authorities have resorted to demolition of their houses and shops without proper time and without paying compensation, which most unfortunate that the voice of the peaceful people of Jammu is being crushed,” Balwan Singh remarked.
He said that Land Acquisition Act of 2003 provides 4 times compensation of the prevalent rates but the BJP Govt did not apply those beneficial provisions and even ignored their demands for a fair compensation equivalent to market rates. This resulted into death of a father and son in Bishnah area due to depression. He fully supported the demand of the farmers and land owners and asked the Govt to desist from coercive actions against public.
