JAMMU, Jan 2: Assuring that the BJP led Government at the Centre is committed to resolve the hardships being faced by the daily wagers in the Union Territory, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today assured PHE daily wagers employees that their demands including regularization would be met very soon.
Blaming the successive previous Governments in erstwhile State for the ill-treatment meted out to these employees, Gupta said BJP-led Government had ensured relief for these protesting employees and all their demands would be met.
Gupta made these comments while interacting with a delegation of PHE daily wagers employees today which had called upon him, seeking his attention towards their genuine demands, for which they have been protesting since months now.
Led by Secretary Bharat Mazdoor Sangh, Ravi Hans, the delegation sought that their demands and problems be taken up with the Union Territory administration and New Delhi.
The delegation which also comprised of employees of Public Health Engineering Department namely Bhanu Partap, Akhil Sharma, Rajan Sharma, Pardeep Singh, Purshotam Lal, Basant Singh, Mukhtiar Want, Hoshiar Singh, and Rashpal Singh, pointed out that more than 60 months wages of the workers are pending and also demanded that the regularization process be expedited. These daily wagers also sought regularization, release of pending wages, implementation of Minimum Wages Act in J&K on Central pattern and revocation of 12 vouchers rider.
The senior BJP leader listened to their issues and assured that he will take up the matter with the Government for an early redressal.
“Two years ago, the Government had initiated the process of regularizing the daily wagers and casual labour in various Government departments,” he said, adding that the BJP Government will take every possible step for resolving their issues on priority basis.
“The successive Governments in the past have exploited the employees, conveniently ignoring the genuine issues faced by them. However, the BJP Government has always thought of their welfare. The UT administration is also working tirelessly to provide relief to the employees,” Gupta told the delegation, adding that the Government will meet their demands at the earliest.
