JAMMU, Dec 26: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Kavinder Gupta while asserting that public service is the core of BJP’s ideology, has reiterated the commitment of BJP Government at the centre to provide tap water to every household till 2024, under its prestigious ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ (JJM) project.
He expressed this while addressing a gathering during a function in which he kick-started the development work of a tube well in Bahu Fort area, here today. The work being executed under JJM is estimated to be completed at a cost of Rs 7.25 crore. Kavinder was accompanied by Rajkumar Tarkhan (Chairman, Public Health and Sanitation Committee, Jammu Municipal Corporation and Jal Shakti) and Corporator Ward 47 Sharda Kumari, Corporator Ward 48, Sham Lal Bassan, Mandal president Lucky Puri and Rajiv Charak.
Kavinder said that the prestigious Jal Jeevan Mission of the BJP Government at the Centre is aimed to fulfill PM Modi’s dream of providing tap water to every household and this dream needs to be fulfilled at the earliest. He said that the construction of tubewell in Wards 47 and 48 was a long pending demand of the people of this area and after completion of this tube well work, the issue of drinking water shortage in the two wards of this area will be resolved to a great extent.
The former Deputy Chief Minister stated that earlier the work on the water reservoir in the area was also initiated which is going to considerably augment the drinking water supply in these two wards and the surrounding areas.
Later, Kavinder Gupta also interacted with the people of the area and took stock of their other problems and issues. After giving them a patient hearing he assured to get all the genuine problems resolved at the earliest.
