SRINAGAR, Feb 28 : As the government has begun preparations for holding local bodies and Panchayat polls in the State as per schedule, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has geared up for the polls.
The party said that it will contest local bodies and Panchayat elections in all the districts and Panchayats in the State.
“Our preparations for the local body and Panchayat polls are going in full swing,” BJP State general secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul said.
Koul said that the party has make vital strides in strengthening the voter base in Kashmir.
“From the last few weeks, we have electing 10 party district presidents, 46 constituency presidents, party incharges and other committees across the Valley,. We will contest on all seats at urban local body, Panchayat elections which will be held later this year,” Koul added. He claimed that BJP has registered 3 lakh memberships in the Valley alone.
Ruling out any pre-poll alliance with any Party, Koul said that the BJP will contest alone like it contested in Ladakh Hill Council polls.
