KISHENPUR NAGROTA, Jan 30: Hitting out at BJP for failing people of Jammu by disrespecting their massive mandate, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said that despite being in power at the Centre and in the State the party failed miserably on governance front.
“In fact BJP was never ever serious on delivering promises during its ten months’ mis-rule in collaboration with PDP, as getting glued to power was its single-point and ultimate agenda”, Mr Rana said while addressing people after laying foundation stone of Rs 24 lakh-Kishenpur Pumping Station this morning.
He also laid the foundation stone for laying out a herbal garden at Jindra. Both these projects are being taken up under his Constituency Development Fund.
Mr Rana charged BJP of playing politics of opportunism and said failure on all fronts has now started boomeranging with discredited party leaders desperately grappling with people’s ire. Though public disenchantment and anger was discernible in immense measure during three successful Bandhs against the party last year on the issue of AIIMS yet depriving Jammu of minimum basics on developmental front has proved to be a flash point.
He said the BJP’s brief power sojourn with its crony PDP will go down as a bad chapter in Jammu and Kashmir’s political history. The anti-climax of unholy honeymoon is a classic case of much ado for nothing, he said, adding that after having compromised on basics of its so-called core ideology the BJP stands exposed for pursuing politics of convenience.
He challenged BJP to spell out just ten achievements of any consequence during the past ten months and said except for having remained intoxicated by power they have nothing to showcase.
Mr Rana said people of Jammu will never forgive the BJP for treachery and deceit, as their pride has been bartered for few loaves of power. “Jammu interest has been made subservient to personal ambitions”, he said and questioned BJP’s moral authority in facing people again after putting the State in a spell of unprecedented political uncertainty and mess.
Referring to developmental initiatives taken in the area out of his Constituency Development Fund, the MLA Nagrota said that the Kishpur Pumping Station will go a long way in meeting drinking water requirements of the people of five Panchayarts, Kishenpur Lower Kathar, Upper Kathar, Patyari and Dhan.
He said development of the constituency has remained a far-cry during two tenures of the BJP representative notwithstanding certain concrete steps initiated during Omar led Government to transform its developmental landscape.
Mr Rana urged the executing agencies for taking up the work on pumping station on fast-track basis so that its benefits percolate down to people in a time bound manner. He also stressed the need for expediting work on the various other projects and hoped the flow of funds will be smooth under the Governor’s Rule.
