BJP expels JMC Councillor Jyoti Devi from primary membership

JAMMU, June 18: After her husband was caught by police accepting bribe, J&K BJP has expelled Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Councillor, Jyoti Devi of Ward number 53 (Trikuta Nagar) from primary membership of the Party.
In a handout BJP claimed itself a principled Party having zero tolerance for corruption in public life and stated that it believes in maintaining purity in conduct by its leaders and even their families in public functioning and also in private life.
BJP J&K leadership sought a report from its Disciplinary Committee which after looking into the facts recommended strong and quick action against the Councillor to instil confidence of masses and workers in the Party.
The handout also stated that BJP is led by personal example of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for maintaining highest standards and dedication with honesty and there can be no compromise in fight against corruption.
“BJP is not like other Parties which shield or protect their corrupt politicians,” it maintained adding that accepting the report of Disciplinary Committee, J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina expelled Jyoti Devi from primary membership of the Party.
Meanwhile, Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Ritesh Dubey has granted five days remand of Jyoti Devi and her husband Sham Lal.
