BJP created emergency like situation in J&K: PDP

JAMMU, Dec 29: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reiterated its demand for the release of Jammu and Kashmir’s political leadership without further delay, highlighting how the prevalent situation is undermining the very idea of democracy at large.
According to a PDP spokesman, a meeting chaired by party’s general secretary and former MLC Surinder Choudhary was held at the PDP head office in Jammu in which discussion at threadbare was held over the ongoing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting also took stock of the arrangements being taken to commemorate 4th death anniversary of PDP founder Late Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
Choudhary highlighted the role the PDP founder towards restoring peace an inseparable feature of Jammu and Kashmir and accord a dignified life to the people who have been bearing the brunt of uncertainties and violence for decades. He also underscored the need for releasing the incarcerated leadership of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that such a situation has made people nostalgic about the emergency period. Choudhary said that for the prevalence of peace, the Government has to shun its proverbial ostrich approach and ascertain the situation which is grim and worrisome.
The PDP general secretary also asked the Government to provide immediate relief to the farmers in both Jammu as well as in Kashmir who have suffered massive losses due to climate change this year. He asked the Government to adopt a prolonged strategy to cope with the agrarian crises looming large with people associated with the farming sector bearing the brunt.
Stating that the bunkers built by the Government for the people in the frontier regions are inadequate and lack basic facilities. Choudhary asked the Government to review the process afresh so that in times of hostilities between the two countries, poor masses are not exposed to the hardships and their precious lives are saved on priority.
