BJP Councilor protests

KATHUA, Mar 15: The sharp differences have surfaced in BJP’s Nagri Parole unit after a Councilor of Nagri Municipal Committee from Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan (DSS) joined the party with a sitting Councilor from BJP protesting against the decision and walked out from the joining ceremony.
According to sources, DSS councilor, Anil Singh Andotra joined the BJP at a function here today in presence of former Minister and ex-MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia, district president of the party and vice chairman, DDC Kathua, Raghunandan Singh Babloo, chairman, Kathua Municipal Council, Naresh Sharma, other leaders and Councilors.
However, BJP Councilor, Rakesh Kumar Saini protested against the decision and walked out from the function alleging that the party is bringing outsiders to be appointed as chairman and vice chairman of the Committee while ignoring the elected six members of the party. With this behavior and revolt, the BJP Councilor created an embarrassing situation for the party leaders present in the meeting.
He said if new Councilors join the party they should not be promised the post of chairman or vice chairman at the cost of senior leaders of the party who are being ignored this way.
However, when contacted, district president of the party and vice chairman DDC Kathua, Raghunandan Singh Babloo refuted his allegations saying that all six Councilors of the party were taken into confidence about the decision of Andotra’s joining the BJP. He said the DSS Councilor had only joined the party and he has not been given any post so there is no fun of opposing the decision by any member.
It may be recalled that BJP had six Councilors in Nagri Municipal Committee and recently its chairperson had lost the confidence motion due to lack of majority in the Committee which was later put into suspended animation. But with the joining of DSS Councilor the party’s tally has increased to seven in 13 member Committee giving it a majority in the House.
