JAMMU, Oct 23: Former minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has said that BJP leadership from Jammu region should clear stand on the discriminatory attitude of Public Service Commission (PSC) towards Jammu and continuation of toll tax at Lakhanpur despite implementation of GST, in violation of `one nation one tax’ concept in the country
In a press statement issued here today, PCC leader said there is a lot of public anger seen in the State against BJP Government over a highly discriminatory attitude of Jammu and Kashmir Public Commission with the highly qualified youth of Jammu. He said that the biased approached of PSC is highly objected by all sections of society in Jammu even across the political line, but BJP is completely mum over this burning issue and remain mute spectator.
“It is very unfortunate that the BJP and its leadership has completely failed to either act or even discuss in Cabinet over this crucial issue of PSC’s selection procedure. The PSC has crossed all limits of discrimination against Jammu province in selection of candidates issued during two and half years. The BJP should reply to the public of Jammu,” Dr Sharma said.
He asked why BJP-PDP Govt is hesitating to abolish toll tax in State. The Congress leader said that the people of the State are already over burdened with taxes upto 28% after GST implementation and toll tax @ of Rs 80 /quintal which is totally intolerable. He said that the industries, business and consumers are badly affected with this toll tax and they made a huge and cry for withdrawl of toll tax from the State, but PDP has maintained criminal silence over it. Dr Sharma said that the way BJP-PDP is functioning, it has given rise to dissatisfaction among masses and unrest in every section of society.
