JAMMU, Aug 30: State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunil Sethi, senior advocate, has expressed concern over large number of bogus voters whose names are existing on the electoral rolls.
“There are large number of persons who are not State Subjects and even the persons who are not even Indians but in their names fictitious State Subject have been issued and their names are existing in the electoral rolls and they have clandestinely voted in the Assembly as well as Municipal Elections”, he said, adding that on the one hand the ghost of Article 370 is being pressed into service by the State Government to deny the rights of State Subjects and voting in the State assembly and local bodies to West Pakistani refugees who migrated to J&K State from Pakistan side of Punjab at the time of partition and on the other hand at the behest of the vested elements having political goals, the State Subjects have been issued fictitiously and illegally to suit the political fortunes of particular political class and persons who are using these un-scrupulous elements as vote bank.
BJP, State spokesperson has called upon the Chief Electoral Officer to revise the electoral rolls in J&K by holding the enquiries into the matter afresh particularly in the colonies which have been illegally developed wherein large number of people having fictitious State subject are living.
Sethi said that BJP will approach the concerned with a request to look into serious matter as to how these people have been granted State Subject and how they are owning the property in the State of J&K.
He stated that number of Ministers of the coalition Government are involved in the land grabbing in the State and detailed inquiry is to be held by appointing commission of inquiry in this regard to enquire into the properties and wealth being held by the Ministers, Legislators and officers in the State.
