NEW DELHI : The BJP today announced five candidates for the March 2 biennial elections to Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council.
MLC polls will be held for 11 seats. The BJP Central Election Committee here announced following candidates: Leh Province- Tsering Dorjung, Kashmir Province- Sofi Yusaf, Jammu Province- Vibodh Gupta, Jammu Province- Ramesh Arora and Jammu Province- Charanjit Singh Khalsha. According to sources, the BJP and the PDP have decided to jointly fight elections on 11 seats. The PDP will contest on six seats.
The polls will be held on March 2, the notification for which was issued on February 12 while tomorrow will be the last date of filing nominations.
The scrutiny of papers will be held the next day and the candidates can withdraw their names by February 21. The counting will be held on March 2. Of these 11 vacancies, five are in Jammu, four in Kashmir Valley and two in Ladakh region.
