JAMMU, Feb 18: A delegation of BJP All Cells, J&K, led by Rakesh Mahajan, In-charge All Cells, BJP J&K, met the Advisor to Lt Governor, Farooq Khan and discussed various issues of traders.
The delegation brought to the notice of Advisor multiple issues of the traders. In this regard president, Rakesh Mahajan also submitted a memorandum to the Advisor highlighting the traders’ pressing issues. Others present in the delegation were Ved Sharma, co-incharge of All Cells and Sham Lal Langar, convener BJP Trade & Industries Cell, Davinder Kumar Gupta, Ashok Kumar Gupta, Surinder Singh and Surinder Kumar Gupta.
Rakesh Mahajan sought Advisor Khan’s intervention in addressing the main issue of extension of lease period of shops at Narwal Mandi which has been irking the traders dealing in vegetables and fruits, running their establishments in the Fruit and Vegetable Market, Narwal Mandi for the past so many decades.
He conveyed to the Advisor that shops were allotted to these traders on a lease period of 40 years and now the lease needs to be renewed by J&K Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department by duly extending the tenure of the original lease.
Sham Lal Langar informed the Advisor that for the last some time, the Department is not extending the lease period of their shops at Narwal Mandi, Jammu. He regretted that despite repeated requests, the officers sitting at the helm of affairs failed to show any serious concern towards this grave issue concerning the Narwal Mandi traders.
The delegation also highlighted that the business community is already facing the impact of COVID-19 pandemic for the last more than two years, especially the traders dealing in fruits and vegetables have faced immense losses during this period.
Advisor Farooq Khan assured that the genuine demands highlighted in the memorandum and deliberated during the meeting will be addressed soon after taking up the same with concerned officers.
