SRINAGAR, Aug 30:  Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today accused Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone, of deliberately creating confusion over the issue of the BJP party leader in the house.
Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, BJP co in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Anil Kumar Jain said that Jugal Kishore is the leader of the BJP in the Assembly. Dr Jain said that veteran BJP leader and former Minister of State for defence, Professor Chaman Lal Gupta has been expelled from the basic membership of the Party.
“There is no confusion on this issue and we have made the position clear. Jugal Kishore is the leader of party in the Assembly while as Prof. Gupta is no more the member of BJP. The Assembly Speaker is sitting on the issue and it is due to his role that there is confusion. Prof. Gupta is not authorized to speak on behalf of the party but still then the Speaker wants to keep the controversy going on,” said Dr Jain.
Dr. Jain ruled out any defection in the party on the expulsion of Prof. Gupta saying that all the legislators and other leaders have vouched their support behind this decision. He said that Prof. Gupta is all alone and the leaders have backed the decision taken by the Party High Command.
Dr. Jain said that his party would carry out a campaign from August 31 to September 2 and make the people aware about their logic to stall the Parliament proceedings. He said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh should resign over the coal-gate scandal adding that only a fair probe is expected.
