JAMMU, Oct 4: Apni Party general secretary, Vikram Malhotra today said that BJP has abandoned the demand of 27 % for OBC people in Jammu and Kashmir after exploiting them for their political gains.
Addressing a programme organised by the State Coordinator for OBC, Madan Lal Chalotra at Mishriwala, Vikram Malhotra said that it was the BJP which had promised all rights to the people of J&K after the abrogation of social status like other states in the country.
“However, the BJP was unable to give rights to the OBC people in J&K. When every law is being implemented in the UT, why not OBC people being given 27 % reservation here,” said Malhotra while speaking at the public programme.
He said that the BJP received an overwhelming response for its promises which it could not fulfil in the last several years. However, the Apni Party will continue to raise its voice against the injustice with the people who need social, political and economic upliftment.
Meanwhile, provincial president, Jammu, Manjit Singh said that Apni Party is committed to the cause of the poor and neglected section of society like OBCs until their genuine demand for reservation enhancement up to enhancement 27 % is implemented.
He said that the BJP has cheated the OBC people and returned to power in 2014. However, people are aware about the hollow slogans and they will not be successful in misleading the people again, he added.
He said that the Government should announce schemes specifically for OBC people for their social, economic and educational upliftment.
“Politically, the OBC people are left without representation and all the political parties except Apni Party have misled these people,” he said.
He said that the OBC people live along the border in Jammu province and they have faced three wars and repeated displacements.
OBC State coordinator, Madan Lal Chalotra said that the Government should give special attention to the downtrodden section of society for their equal treatment in society and educational upliftment.
Among others, Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, SC State coordinator, Bodh Raj Bhagat, District President, Jammu, Rural-A, Pushp Dev Kumar Uppal. The meeting was also attended by State General Secretary, OBC, Darshan Mehra, State Secretary OBC, Rakesh Kumar Verma, Satpal Verma and others.
