Biswas launches School Visit Programme

Kishtwar, Sept 23: With an  aim of bringing about marked improvement in the education sector in district Kishtwar the  District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Saugat Biswas today started the series of visits to Govt. schools of the district from the Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar along with Chief Planning Officer Kishtwar.
He   took a comprehensive account of the availability of teachers and facilities available for the students. He checked the attendance of teachers, staff position in the school, accommodation for class rooms, libraries and laboratories, toilets and drinking water facilities, books and uniform available to the students etc.
Biswas inspected all the laboratories and found them in shabby conditions, heaps of garbage and dirt were seen accumulated not only in laboratories but also in class rooms. The DDC was shocked to see the extreme poor condition of the library with broken furniture tattered matting and lots of garbage, for the upkeep of which he issued strong instructions to the Principal. He also issued verbal warnings to the librarian as well the chemistry teacher for immediate upkeep of the laboratory.
District Development Commissioner Kishtwar himself sat in class rooms along with students and listened to the lectures being delivered. DDC had detailed interaction with the students and teachers with a view to comprehending the ways and means to improve the schools.
To uplift the standard of Government schools in the region, DDC asked the teachers to encourage questioning by the students, besides focus should be laid on bringing the innovations in the learning, he said. He quizzed the teachers including Principal and directed them to put more efforts while delivering lectures to their students as the standard is not at par.
Taking serious note of the shabby dilapidated conditions of the laboratories, Biswas directed the concerned to uplift the teaching standard especially in laboratories besides emphasizing them on the special cleanliness drive, as it seemed that the laboratories,  library and class rooms were never cleaned for years.  The developmental funds of all the components available with the school were checked and detailed directions were passed to incur the funds as per the guidelines for the betterment of the school.
He also ordered CEO Kishtwar to launch a cleanliness drive in all the schools as the unhygienic atmosphere will not be tolerated at any cost.
