JAMMU, Oct 31: Rich tributes were today paid to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary amid holding of Ekta pledge here across Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The day is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas/ National Unity Day, to commemorate the great contribution of India’s Iron Man towards integration and unity of the country in post Independence era.
The sole aim of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is to make India a united and strong power which in the coming times can become one of the leading nations of world. This was stated by the senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta during a programme organised by Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha at Sainik Coloney to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel here. Among others present were Anil Kumar Corporator and President District Jammu BJYM, Narinder Singh Bunty Corporator, Monu Salathia and Arjun Suri.
BJP Unit of Jammu West organized a programme on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and paid rich tributes to him. Former UT President BJP J&K Sat Sharma along with District President Munish Khajuria and other senior leaders of the party remembered Sardar Patel’s work for building a modern India. UT Secretary and Incharge Jammu West Rekha Mahajan, Seh Prabhari Shailja Gupta, District General Secretaries Rajesh Gupta and Karan Sharma, Mandal Presidents Raveesh Mengi and Keshav Chopra were also present. District office bearers, Mandal office bearers and Presidents of Morchas were also present in the programme.
Convenor BJP Urban Local Bodies Cell and JMC Councillor Sanjay Kumar Baru organized a programme on the occasion of “Ekta-Divas” to pay floral tributes to the first Union Home Minister of India Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel at Bohri in Ward Number-41. BJP Additional Publicity Secretary Ayodhya Gupta, Councilor Mahendra Kumar, BJP Ward President Ashok Wazir, BJP’s Ward President Ashok Wazir, Jitendra Khajuria, Rakesh Sharma, Bhvesh Thappa, Atul Chopra and other workers were present on the occasion.
BJYM Udhampur paid rich tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. Sumit Gupta, Vice President Municipal Council Ramnagar and UT Executive Member BJYM JK, Sushant Gupta District President BJYM and Keshav Sharma Social Media Incharge BJYM Udhampur threw light on the importance of the day.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as he administered the unity pledge to the officers and officials.
Commissioner Secretary Forest, Ecology and Environment, Sarita Chauhan led the unity pledge taking ceremony attended by senior officers here at Civil Secretariat.
District Administration Kishtwar in collaboration with District Police and District Youth Services and Sports Department organized ‘Run for Unity’ from Chowgan Ground to celebrate the Ekta Diwas.
The run was flagged off by SSP Dr Harmeet Singh Mehta and Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Parihar.
A Run for Unity was organised by District Administration Poonch in conjunction with the District Police to mark the ‘National Unity Day’.
The ‘Run for Unity’ was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav in presence of Additional Superintendent of Police, Khalid Amin, CEO Tourism, Dr Mohammad Tanveer, District Youth and Sports Officer, Qasim Hussain and the other district heads of line departments.
To commemorate National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), unity pledge was held across the Kathua district. At District Headquarter, DC Om Parkash Bhagat administered the pledge of “Rashtriya Ekta” to the officers and officials. Similar pledge taking ceremonies were held in different government offices of the district.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and celebrate the Rashtriya Ekta Divas, District Administration Reasi organized a tribute paying function. DC Indu Kanwal Chib paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and administered unity pledge to the senior officers of the district administration present on the occasion.
National Unity Day was observed in District Ramban to commemorate birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. DDC Nazim Zai Khan administered Ekta pledge to officers and officials and other participants. Among others ADC, Ashok Sharma, CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, ACR, Dhirender Sharma, ACD, Zameer Ahmed Rishu, DPO, Sunil Bhutyal, other officers and officials, besides common public participated in the programme.
The officers and officials of Joint Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Jammu paid tributes to Sardar Patel and took a pledge to contribute their bit in preserving the values of unity in diversity.
Jammu Development Authority celebrated the Rashtriya Ekta Divas (National Unity Day) by holding Ekta pledge ceremony in the premises of JDA complex. Vice Chairperson and officers of JDA along with the subordinate staff participated in the pledge taking ceremony.
Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu held a Unity Pledge and paid tributes to Sardar Patel.
Among other official, State Director, Bikram Singh Gill, Deputy Director S S Bedi and DYC Jammu Nisar Ahmed Butt participated.
A pledge ceremony to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was also held at Directorate of Horticulture complex, Talab Tillo under the chairmanship of Director Horticulture, Ram Savak.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sirmaur celebrated National Unity Day. The faculty, staff and students of the institute joined together in online mode to mark this event and take national unity pledge.
Professor (Dr) Neelu Rohmetra Director IIM Sirmaur explained the wordings of the pledge and asked everyone to strive to work for the unity and integrity of the nation. She said that as soldiers are securing our borders, we can also contribute to ensure peace and harmony in the nation. She also said that Sardar Patel is known to take hard decisions. Decisions becomes hard when we cannot satisfy everyone with our decision. In such situations, the decision has to be taken by focusing on the majority who were likely to be benefitted by the decision. Such decisions are always positive long term results. She also shared the importance that diversity plays in the Nation as well as IIM Sirmaur and how being united within this diversity was the entire essence of Sardar Patel’s philosophy.
Earlier, the faculty, staff and students of IIM Sirmaur took the national unity pledge. First year MBA student Arjun Raj explained the significant of the day. The event concluded with some beautiful poems written on Sardar Patel and his philosophy which were recited during the event by the students of IIM Sirmaur. The event was organized by the event Management Committee of IIM Sirmaur.
J&K Police today observed National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) across Jammu Zone. The main function was held Glushan Ground Jammu where IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh took the salute of the parade and administered oath to the police officers and jawans. Different contingents took part in a colourful march past. Similar types of functions were also organized in all Police districts of Jammu province.
National Unity day was celebrated with great fervour in all units and establishments of CRPF in Jammu region. In Group Centre, Bantalab, a grand ceremonial March Past/ Parade was organized in the parade ground. Rajendra Prasad, DIGP was the chief guest on the occasion, while PC Gupta, Commandant, Rajesh, Kumar, Deputy Commandant, Sumit Verma, Deputy Commandant and other Gazetted Officers, Subordinate Officers and jawans were also present.
On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, pledge ceremonies for preserving and upholding of the unity, integrity and security of the nation were organized by J&K Anti Corruption Bureau at Jammu and Srinagar. In Jammu, Pledge Ceremony was organized by Joginder Singh, SSP whereas in Srinagar, the Pledge Ceremony was presided over by Al Tahir Geelani, SSP.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm at Police Academy Udhampur. On this occasion, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP Security J&K and Director PA Udhampur took salute and addressed the trainees, officers and staff of the Academy.
On the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbai Patel, “Ekta Parade” was organised at different locations in district Udhampur. At DPL Udhampur Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated under the supervision of Rajinder Katoch Additional SP Udhampur while Shahid Nahiem DySP DAR Udhampur and other officers and officials have also attended the function at DPL Udhampur. Similar programmes were also held at Sub-Divisional Level at Ramnagar, Chennani and in Police Stations and Police Posts Latti, Pancheri, Majalta, Basantgarh and Udhampur.
The Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour in Rajouri. At DPL Rajouri, National Unity Day parade was organised which was presided over by SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli in presence of all the senior officers of police and civil administration.
National Unity Day was observed in DPL Doda to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. During the program the troops were briefed about the importance of the day as the day is the day of unity. SP Bhaderwah Raj Singh Gouria, SP Headquarters Doda Master Popsy, Raj Kumar SP (Ops) Doda, Jaswant Singh DySP HQ Doda, Showket Ali DySP DAR Doda and other ranks of District Police Doda were present on the occasion.
District Police Samba celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Divas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On the occasion, a march past of the contingents of DPL Samba and IRP-12th Battalion was organised at DPL Samba. A pledge taking/oath ceremony was conducted in which SSP Samba administered the oath to all the participants. Additional SP Samba and other territorial officers of Samba Police were also present on the oath taking ceremony.
Freedom Fighters Memorial Association (FFMA) paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Iron Lady and Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Dogra Shourya Shaheedi Sthal, Amphalla. The function was organized by FFMA Chairman, Ved Gandotra, Vice Chairman Rajiv Mahajan and President RC Puri. On this occasion, executive members Karnail Chand, Pritam Sharma, SS Balwal, Prabhat Kapahi and Karan Gupta of FFMA besides prominent personalities were present.
As a mark of respect on birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jammu Municipal Corporation celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). A pledge taking ceremony was organized in the premises of JMC wherein Deputy Mayor, Chairpersons, Councillors, Secretary and Officers of JMC alongwith their subordinate staff participated.
On the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a “Run for Unity” was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur. The run was flagged off by Anil Sharma Deputy Director Planning Department in the presence of Swaran Singh DYSSO Udhampur along with ZPEO UDhampur, ZPEO Jib, field staff and Scouts and Guides.
NHPC Limited observed ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) at its Corporate Office and across all its regional offices, power stations, projects and units. AK Singh, CMD, NHPC administered the pledge for ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ to the NHPC employees. Ratish Kumar, Director (Projects), NK Jain, Director (Personnel), YK Chaubey, Director (Technical), RP Goyal, Director (Finance) and AK Srivastava, CVO, NHPC also participated in the programme along with other senior NHPC officers and employees through video conferencing.
Bharat Scouts and Guides Udhampur District in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports organised “Run for Unity” to celebrated National Unity Day under the leadership of Unit Leader Rakesh Singh, Ajay Mathur and Vivek Gupta.
NSS Unit of GCOE, Jammu organized Online Inter-College Slogan Writing Competition on National Unity Day to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The theme for the said program was “Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat”. The program was ably conducted by NSS Program Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal along with committee members Prof Shapia Shameem and Prof Seema Kumari. Prof (Dr) Kulvinder Kour Principal GCoE, Dr Ashaq Hussain from GDC Chatroo, Prof Satish Sharma, Head Hindi Department GCoE and Dr Suman Charak Jamwal Head, Department of English GCW Gandhi Nagar were also present. Winners will be declared on college website by 2nd November 2020.
To mark the birth anniversary of the “Iron Man of India” Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Government Degree College Khour celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. On the occasion NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and sports students along with Principal and staff of the college participated in Run for Unity. The run was flagged off by Prof Hans Raj, Principal of the college. The programme was coordinated by NCC officer Prof Arun Sharma, NSS PO Prof Gurvinder Kour and HOD Physical Education and Sports Prof Goutam Sharma.
Government ITI Kathua celebrated National Unity Day. The programme was held under the supervision of Naresh Singh Superintendent ITI Kathua. At last Superintendent ITI Kathua administered the Ekta pledge among all students and staff.
NSS Unit of GGM Science College organized Inter Collegiate Slogan Writing under patronage of Principal Dr Ravender Tickoo and supervision of NSS PO Dr Deepali Mahajan. Students of different colleges of JK UT participated in slogan writing with theme “Togetherness leads to Harmony; Harmony leads to Peace”. The event was judged by Dr Shakha, Department of Zoology and Dr Nisha, HOD, Department of Geography. The first position was bagged by Suhasini of GGM Science College. Ashika Bajwa of GCOE secured second position, while third rank was shared by Tanisha Gupta of GGM Science College, Dinakshi Devi and Ananya Sharma, both from School of Sciences CLUJ.
GDC Kalakote in collaboration with NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of College observed National Unity Day. Principal GDC Kalakote, Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta threw light on the importance of the day. In the end, a National Unity Pledge was taken by Dr Romesh Kr. Gupta along with the Convenor of NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club.
Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur under the guidance of Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Satinder Kaur organized an Inter-College Quiz Competition on “National Unity Day”. In this event more than 100 students from different colleges belonging to different States and UTs participated. Among the participants more than 90 secured above 60 per cent to whom an e-certificate was e-mailed by the organizing committee.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Government Higher Secondary School celebrated National Unity Day. A pledge taking ceremony, painting competition, Swachhta Abhiyan and plantation drive were conducted by the students. Principal Nand Kishor threw light on the importance of the day.
Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana celebrated “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas”. The day began with a virtual informative morning assembly where the participants were administrated a pledge while the following hours of the auspicious day saw an enthusiastic participation of the student community in various activities like Essay Writing, Quiz Competition and Poster Designing. Principal RHS Anita Bhatia and Managing Director Ruchi Charak expressed their views on the occasion.
To celebrate the ‘National Unity Day’, Army Goodwill School Hajinar Tangdhar Kupwara under aegis of ‘Shakti Vijay Brigade ‘ organised a cultural programme on National Integration. On the occasion, Punjabi Bhangra, Kashmiri folk dance, Gujarati folk dance, recitation of motivational poems and a patriotic skit were present by the students.
