JAMMU, May 4: The 110th birth anniversary of Shaivacharya Ishwar Saroop Swami Lakshman Joo Maharaj was celebrated here today at Ishwar Ashram Bhawan Mohinder Nagar with full religious fervour and gaiety.
Hundreds of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu thronged the Ashram to pay their obeisance under the lotus feet of Swami Ji.
The function started with flag hoisting ceremony in the morning which was followed by recitation of Guru Stuti and presentation of Shradha Suman by the devotees and admirers.
On the occasion Swami Kumar Ji gave a lecture on Swami Lakshman Joo and termed him a doyen of Kashmiri Shaivism as well as a great authority of Shaiva philosophy of Kashmir.
Acharya Shiv Prasad Raina who is heading the Abhinavgupt millennium celebrations in his speech asked the Kashmiri Pandits and civil society to rally and take deep interest in the study of Abhinavgupt and Kashmiri Shaivism. He praised the abiding efforts of Ishwar Swaroop Lakshman Joo in propagating the Shavite studies all over the world.
Four students including Manik Ambardar, Versha Reshi, Deepesh Goja and Kamal Shah also spoke on the life of Swami Ji and his contribution in reviving Kashmiri Shaivism. They said that Swami Ji propagated the philosophy of Kashmiri Shaivism not only in the State but outside. It was due to his authority on the subject that some foreigners also became his disciples to learn this world rich philosophy. Various books on Kashmiri Shaivism and CD of Guru Stuti were put to sale for general public on the occasion.
At the conclusion of the function, Prasad was also served to devotees. The function was also held Ishwar Ashram Nishat, Srinagar in Kashmir Valley, Delhi Kendra at Sarita Vihar, Mumbai Kendra , Khargar Nai Mumbai and KMR Shaiva Fellowship, California, USA.
Besides, another function was held by the disciples and devotees of Swami Ji at Pushpati Mandir Sarwal, here. The celebrations started in the morning with recitation of Shri Guru-Stuti followed by the chanting of Shalokas from a number of Shaiv -Shastras. The ritualistic pooja was performed at 10 am amid the chanting of devotional hymns by the devotees and disciples of Swami Ji Maharaj.
Aarti was offered at 11-30 am by a large number of devotees which culminated in the Pushpa Archana.
This was followed by distribution of Prasad at 1 pm and at 4 pm a Sangeet Samagam was held where in hymns of Swami Ji were sung by the devotees.
