JAMMU, Jan 29: Former National Conference (NC) MLA, Bimla Luthra, today visited several villages in Suchetgarh area and met the people whose livestock, houses and crops have been damaged due to shelling from across the border.
Luthra, along with senior National Conference functionaries of the area, visited Bega Bera, Shamka and Chandu Chak Laiya villages and expressed solidarity with the sufferers. She criticized the PDP-BJP Government for letting down the border people as their promises of safe shelter sheds, allotment of five marla plots and raising of bunkers have proved to be hoax. She said the BJP has betrayed the people, as their problems of accumulated manifold during the past three years.
The former MLA said that lack of facilities at temporary shelter places have caused lot of hardships to the border dwellers, especially in the wake of current cold climatic conditions. She said there is no proper arrangement of medicare and other lodging facilities to take care of the displaced people in the wake of shelling.
Luthra said that the border dwellers were living under perpetual fear due to shelling and there is immense need of instilling sense of security among them by way of their safe lodging in the shelter sheds with adequate facilities. She also sought preliminary relief in favour of the sufferers till the survey is carried out to assess the extent of damages.
