JAMMU, June 4: NC senior leader and MLA Bimla Luthra distributed Rs 10 lakh out of her Constituency Development Fund under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) for repairing of houses among 12 beneficiaries in Bishnah today.
A function was organized on the occasion in the town by the party which was attended by a large number of women activists of the area.
Mrs Luthra in her address on the occasion appealed the women to strengthen the party. She said women constitute 50 percent of the population and they can play a good role in shaping the destiny of the nation.
She, while recalling the achievements of NC –Congress coalition led by Omar Abdullah said that many schemes and projects were taken up in hand by the Government for the welfare of the people in last over five years of its rule. Various schemes and projects have been completed while on others work is one, she added.
She, while welcoming the historic decision of the Government regarding enhancement of retirement age to 60 years from 58 years for the employees and extending the recruitment age to 40 years said this will benefit lakhs of the people of the State.
She also termed the implementation of 73rd Amendment of Constitution a remarkable step of the Omar Abdullah led Government for empowerment of Panchayats in the State.
