KATHUA, Oct 6: A motorcyclist was killed when he was hit by a truck on busy Jammu -Pathankot National Highway at Kalibari, near here, today.
The accident took place when a youth identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Diwan Chand of Uttri, Kathua was on his motorcycle JK08D 5174 and the bike was hit by a truck on the Service Lane of the Highway. The motorcyclist died on the spot. A police team reached on the spot and shifted the body to GMC Kathua for legal formalities.
The eye witness said that due to construction of Highway from GMC to Kalibari by NHAI, the traffic is diverted on service lane which is very congested for heavy vehicles. The unfortunate motorcyclist was also trapped in congested road and hit by a truck this evening.
The local people showed serious concern over the slow pace of Highway widening which caused regular road accidents on this stretch.
Another accident took place at Barnoti when a speedy truck hit a Matador which caused injuries to three person travelling in Matador. They were shifted to GMC Kathua for treatment.
