Bike rider killed in road accident

KATHUA, Aug 11: A bike-rider was killed and the pillion rider seriously injured, when their bike was hit by an unknown vehicle near Lakhanpur last night.
Reports said the mishap took place when Surinder Kumar, son of Santokh Raj, resident of Nawapind in Sujanpur (Pb) and Harsh, son of Mohan Lal from the same village, were returning on their bike No. PB-35M/1946 to their village from Kathua side at around 9.30 pm. Their bike was hit by an unknown vehicle near Lakhanpur on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway.
Both the injured were rushed to Kathua hospital by police where Surinder was declared as dead. The seriously injured Harsh was referred to GMC hospital Jammu, last mid night. The police registered a case and started investigation. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after postmortem at Kathua hospital today.
