JAMMU, Dec 19: J&K’s largest four days “8th Building Materials Exhibition” organized by Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), J&K Centre commenced this evening.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies Nawang Rigzin Jora and Minister For Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla at Royal Retreat, Hari Palace.
Chairman Northern Chapter of IIA Ashutosh Gupta, Council Member IIA Northern Chapter Kapil Mehta, EC Member IIA Nikhil Mohan, Chairman, IIA J&K Chapter SL Suri, Vice Chairman Devinder Gupta, secretary Harvinder Pal Singh, treasurer Vikas Dubey, large number of dealers and distributors of various architecture and construction related business houses from all over the country, HoDs and officers from various Government departments were present on the occasion.
In his welcome address, BS Chib, said that the exhibition is aimed to spread awareness among the masses about latest designs, innovations and techniques in the building materials in J&K. Chib on behalf of IIA demanded a piece of land for setting up their office.
After inaugurating the expo, Raman Bhalla and Nawang Rigzin zora took a round of stalls put up by various building material companies.
Speaking on the occasion, Jora urged for introducing latest and low cost building technology in the State. He also urged for extensive research and renovation in manufacturing of building materials in the J&K to bring it at par with cosmopolitan cities.
Responding to the demand of IIA, Minister said that all possible steps would be taken to provide a suitable piece of land for construction of office for the IIA, J&K Chapter on the analogy of Indian Institute of Engineers.
Raman Bhalla urged for introducing new building technology in J&K to make it a modern State.
In the end, the vote of thanks was presented by Devinder Gupta, Vice Chairman, IIA, J&K Chapter.
The event was sponsored by Jindal Panther, Top Manufacturers and Suppliers of TMT Bars, TMT Saria, Reinforced Steel Bars and Steel Bars for construction in India.

While interacting with EXCELSIOR, SL Suri, Chairman, IIA J&K Chapter informed that exhibition provides a platform to the dealers and distributors of various architecture and constriction related business houses to showcase their products to general masses and professionals from construction industry.
During the expo, the representatives of various building material companies will provide detailed information about their products to the visitors through power point presentation and personal interactions, he added.
Subash Nanda, Marketing Head, Kamdhenu Paints, J&K in his interaction with EXCELSIOR informed that the products which are on display during the exhibition are Eco Fresh, Kamometallica, Kamolite, Velvety, Kamolite, Sheen n Shine, Richlook, Weather Supreme, Kamosilky, etc. He also informed the Kamdhenu Paints is organizing Architectures meet after the conclusion of this expo.
Appiel Rarotra, Assistant Area Sales Manager, Asian Granito India Limited (AGL) told that during the expo, the company is displaying hi-tech tiff guard digital tiles, which are auto-skid and stain resistant. He added that the company is also displaying micro crystal, which is high glossy, fully vitrified with mirror finish.
