UDHAMPUR, July 9: Alleging failure of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in providing adequate water supply to them, the residents of Bharat Nagar today held a strong protest in front of PHE office, near MH Chowk Udhampur.
Senior leader of Congress, Ashwani Khajuria and ward number 1 Councilor Preeti Khajuria led the protest by locals of Bharat Nagar area. They raised slogans against the PHE Department and District administration Udhampur for their failure to ensure regular supply of drinking water since last three years.
Preeti Khajuria said that the people were suffering for the last three years and the issue was variously brought into the notice of the concerned authorities but all in vain. “Even we staged protests many times to highlight our grievance but no action was taken in this regard till date and the water supply is still extremely poor as it used to be, making people face the worst,” she added.
