KISHTWAR, Sept 8: Senior Congress leader and member Kishtwar Civil Society Shamsher Singh Bhandari while expressing grave concern over the failure of the Government in starting the work on four lanning Batote- Kishtwar Highway which has become a death trap at present demanded that the road be handed over to a reputed company for its speedy construction.
In a statement issued here, today Mr Bhandari said the condition of the road from Batote to Kishtwar is worst and it aggravated further during recent Monsoon rains. He said if immediate steps were not taken to take up the construction of the road the safety of passengers traveling on it will be exposed to grave danger.
He said the Government despite giving assurances has failed to take up the work on the construction of road in hand due to which the people are facing many hardships. He said the road network is the basis for the progress and development and no area can cope with other parts of the State in development if it sans proper road networking.
