Bhandari demands hike in ration scale of BPL

JAMMU, May 8: Congress leader and member of civil society Kishtwar, Shamsher Singh Bhandari while expressing concern over the failure of Government to enhance the ration scale of BPL families in accordance to old scale in the Kandi belt has demanded that same be done at priority basis.
Mr Bhandari said that people living under BPL in far flung areas of erstwhile Doda district are facing shortage of ration as the CAPD has failed to enhance the scale per soul till date despite the claims made by the Government.
He demanded attention be paid to development of erstwhile Doda district by giving impetus to tourism industry. He said in this entire belt there are many beautiful tourist spots in Kishtwar district and Bhadarwah tehsil but the Government failed to pay attention to their development. Besides the tourism there is lot of potential for pilgrimage tourism in the area and the Government should pay attention to the same to improve economy of the people.
Bhandari said entire Chenab Valley has lot of potential for hydro electricity generation but the government has failed to exploit the natural resources of the area for the same. He demanded that work be started on Rattle project and other power projects be also accorded approval for construction.
