Bhalla visits flood affected areas

JAMMU, July 27: A team of senior Congress leaders including former Minister and vice president PCC, Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, PCC vice president and District Congress Committee Jammu Urban president Anil Chopra besides other local leaders today visited rain and flood affected areas of Janipur and other parts of city, took stock of prevailing situation arising out of heavy rains and floods and the problems being faced by the people of these areas.
They also visited the Daily Excelsior Lane and expressed deep shock over the death of two school girls who were washed away in the flood.
Expressing serious concern over the situation arising out of today’s rain in various localities of Janipur and various other localities of the, Raman Bhalla said that the Government must take the plight of people seriously, in view of heavy losses suffered by the people of these areas in last year’s rains and floods.
Urging the authorities Bhalla said that there is need for taking immediate measures for the safety of the people of these areas and demanded construction of embankments and dredging of the Nallahs passing through these localities in order to ensure free flow of water.
Bhalla demanded that loss of household goods and damage of houses of these areas be assessed immediately in order to provide them relief and compensation.
Other prominent leaders who accompanied Bhalla included Dr Rama Kant Khajuria, Gourav Chopra, Vijay Singh Chib, Anil Kohli, Dr Suresh Abrol, Harjeet Singh Bagi, Vijay Sharma, Jagtar Singh, Goutam Choudhary, and Rajkumar.
Later, Bhalla also visited rain hit areas of Bahu Fort, Kalika Colony, Qasim Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, Bathindi, Trikuta Nagar, Satwari and other areas under Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency.
