JAMMU, Apr 16: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) vice president and former minister, Raman Bhalla has alleged that PDP-BJP Coalition Government has let down the Jammu region in all respects.
Speaking to the people of Jeevan Nagar in Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla said that Government is shying away from its duty to conduct Urban Local Body and Panchayat elections. Formation of ULBs are must to empower the people of urban areas”, he said and added that in a democratic system it was necessary to make representative character of all democratic institutions to ensure people’s participation in these institutions.
Terming the promises made by PDP-BJP Government as “mere bluffs”, Bhalla said that voters are fed up with the “sheer opportunism” of these two parties. Both the parties took the extreme positions on most of the emotional issues and exploited their respective constituencies to the hilt, with a false and deceptive promise to keep each other out of power, if voted in strength.
“The State is virtually witnessing mis-governance with Government nowhere to be seen on ground”, he said, adding that if all there is any visibility of the PDP and BJP anywhere in the State, it is for all the wrong reasons of exploiting people and inciting them to fight each other.
The coalition partners are suffering from inherent contradictions and playing to galleries, as a consequence of which the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh find themselves pushed to the wall. He said deceptive politics and disruptive posturing of the PDP-BJP has cost the State dearly, not only in terms of gap between the people widening but also performance of the administration taking nose dive due to lack of political direction.
The former minister assailed the PDP-Bhalla blamed both PDP and BJP for exploiting people by playing with their emotions on good governance drama being staged by them. He claimed that both the parties have lost the ground miserably. He described the PDP-BJP Government in Jammu and Kashmir as an abject failure, saying the coalition is plagued by distractions that has slowed down the process of development and left the governance in paralytic mode.
“In fact, the present dispensation has lost the will to govern”, he said, adding that the slogan of development is just a façade, as the major concern of the insensitive alliance is how to remain glued to power.
