JAMMU, May 19: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla expressed resentment over ignoring of trading community in PM’s economic package.
He said that mobile and shoe sellers, cloth merchants, hardware and automobiles dealers etc will be under big financial crisis after lifting of ongoing lockdown as these people will have to pay salaries, bank interests, taxes, electricity bills etc.
While distributing food items among the needy families in Gandhi Nagar Constituency at Rajiv Nagar in Ward number 7, Mohalla Dogra, Bhalla said, even the relief measures offered to MSMEs by the government do not help traders as they are not covered under MSME sector.
He said traders need working capital to retain employment as lack of support will result in closure of business.
The Congress leader claimed that the consumer, retail and services will face the brunt of COVID-19 affect in a big way and the sector is set to lose at least 100,000 jobs.
He further said that the small as well as the large businesses across J&K are confronting extreme economic challenges as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.
Bhalla said that hoteliers, travel agents, dhabawallas, shawl dealers, handicraft dealers, dry fruits dealers etc have been badly hit by the Corona.
Prominent among those who accompanied Bhalla were Block Congress President, Jatinder Singh Chib; DCC General Secretary Urban, Aman Bawa; DCC General Secretary Urban, Jatin Vashisht and others.
