Bhalla presents report card before people

JAMMU, Dec 11: Presenting the report card of his two consecutive tenures as MLA Gandhi Nagar constituency, Minister for Culture, Horticulture and Housing and Congress candidate Raman Bhalla said that the constituency witnessed holistic development.
Minister disclosed that with commissioning of a number of water supply schemes in the Gandhi Nagar constituency, people are getting safe and hygienic drinking water, new ration stores have been opened up and the whole constituency, today, is connected through a network of roads and lanes. Apart from this, around 25 tube-wells were installed in various localities of the constituency to over come water-crisis, he added.
Minister said this while addressing election meetings in Chatha, Rajeev Nagar, Langar, Kacha Talab, Sainik Colony, Gangyal, Gandhi Nagar, Jeevan Nagar, Nanak Nagar and Bhour Camp areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Mr Bhalla said that electrification of number of areas in the constituency was done by getting a number of electric poles and transformers installed and upgraded, adding that around 15 schools have been upgraded to high and higher secondary level, which are catering to the needs of thousands of students at their doorsteps and all this happened due to the positive approach, sincerity and dedication of the Congress party towards the people.
Mr Bhalla added that construction of fly over at Vikram Chowk, 6 laning of Satwari to Kunjwani road, modern facilities at cremation grounds, upgradation of schools, opening of new playing fields and Public Health Centres (PHCs) and opening of 10-beded CHC at Trikuta Nagar are also some of the works done during his tenures as MLA Gandhi Nagar.
“Multipurpose-cum-community halls were constructed at Bazigar Basti, Gorkha Nagar, Rajiv Nagar and some other areas of the constituency, so that the people can hold family functions and social gatherings, Minister added.
In Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, various new departments were established including Eye Department, Dental Department, Dialysis Unit, Minister said, adding that OPD costing Rs 18 crore was also made operational in the hospital, which caters to the needs of thousands of people on daily basis.
Taking dig over some of the contesting candidates, who are raising questions over his credibility, Mr Bhalla said there are politicians who are coming to Gandhi Nagar constituency today to ask for your votes. You should ask these political parties and their leaders what they have done for the people of this constituency apart from issuing press notes and giving speeches, he added.
Urging the people to elect a Government which is ‘capable’, ‘determined’ and ‘time-tested’ to undertake the reconstruction and rehabilitation exercise as also live up to the expectations of the people, Bhalla said that people of the state can rewrite their destiny by giving a decisive mandate in favour of the Congress Party.
