JAMMU, Sept 29: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today advised the people to utilize their spare time for exercise and walks utilizing the recreational parks and recreation- cum-health centre developed by the Government across cities and towns of the State for their well being.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a gathering after laying foundation stone of recreation-cum-health centre (RCHC) and multi play station (MPS) for children at Channi Himmat, Sector-1, here today.
Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Kiran Wattal, Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority, Kuldeep Lal Khajuria, Managing Director JKHB Ram Pal Sharma besides other senior officers of JKHB were present on the occasion.
Mr. Bhalla said that the RCHC and MPS for children would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.65 crore by Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board within one year.
The Minister said that this place would provide the people of City of Temples facilities like Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, Jacuzzi, Steam Bath, Sauna Bath, Community Hall, Party Hall and Restaurant for their good health.
Mr. Bhalla said sedentary life style was the major cause for ill health and daily exercise in the open spaces is the only solution to keep maladies like fat, diabetics, hyper tension and heart ailment at bay. He asked the JKHB to also develop this place with modern line facilities like seating, walkway, irrigation, illumination and landscaping so that the morning and evening walkers could enjoy their spare time there, adding that exercise makes people mentally and physically fit. He called upon the people to keep their surroundings hygienic and pollution free to maintain a healthy atmosphere and to leave better impression on the tourists visiting the state.
Mr. Bhalla said that Government has geared up officers for retrieving State land from the land grabbers. He said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to utilize retrieved land at various places for the construction of social infrastructure and Government assets.
The Minister further said that after inauguration of the recreation cum health centre, the place would add to the beauty of the city, which is being developed as a major tourist attraction and work on developing other potentials spots, including heritage and pilgrimage sites is also apace.
Mr. Bhalla said that Government is on job for construction of cable car project from Mahamaya to Bahu Fort and Mahamaya to Peer Kho besides development of golf course and restoration of pristine glory of Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex.
For facilitating the pilgrims and tourists at Bahu Fort area, Mr. Bhalla said the Government has created modern line wayside facilities like recreational garden, aquarium, balidan stumb, landscaping, view points, tug shop, toilet blocks, fencing, illumination, drinking water besides construction of darshani deodi near Kalika Colony.
Keeping in view the beautification of the road dividers from Kunjwani to Sidhra stretch, the Minister said NHAI authorities are on job to plant ornamental saplings, landscaping, besides installation of lights adding that a detailed project of Rs. 6 crore has been prepared for this purpose, adding that the beautification works are under progress on the sites.
