JAMMU, Mar 3: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has said that the current focus of the Government was to create all basic amenities in rural pockets at par with urban centres, adding that in this regard several schemes have been launched to improve the necessary infrastructure there.
The Minister was addressing a large gathering after laying foundation stone of link road from Bhour Camp to Shamshan Ghat, upgradation of lanes and drains at Chatha Pind, besides construction of parking slot at Bhour Kothey near Government Primary School, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 75 lakh under Rural Development Department (RDD) funding.
Mr. Bhalla asked the engineers of RDD to complete all the projects within stipulated time frame by using quality material. He said Government was committed to create durable assets for the people and it was making all out efforts to develop every village with modern line and improved basic facilities like safe drinking water, road connectivity, healthcare, irrigation, education, power besides better lanes and drains.
Responding to the demand of villagers, the Minister said the Government has earmarked Rs. 45 lakh for construction of playfield on the proposed site at Bhour Camp, adding that the project would be started after completing tendering formalities by Rural Development Department.
For improving the power scenario in Chatha Pind, he said Government has sanctioned Rs. 15 lakh for upgradation of transformers and other allied works in the village. He asked the PDD engineers to start the works so that the villagers do not face any inconvenience during ensuing summer season.
Regarding desilting of choked deep drain of both sides of approached road to Chatha Pind, Mr. Bhalla asked the RDD to immediately start the desilting work of the drains. He asked the villagers to avail the benefits of Rural Sanitation Scheme offering Rs. 9500 to each household for construction of toilet.
Listing the development works taken up in Chatha Pind and Bhour Kullian, the Minister said Rs. 50 lakh have been earmarked for construction of Cremation ground at Bhour Kullian, adding that the project is under progress and would be completed within stipulated time frame. He said the Cremation ground would be completed with the facilities of Cremation shed, waiting shed with benches, bathing ghat (Tootian), drinking water storage reservoir, approach road, besides boundary wall.
At Bishnah, the Minister, accompanied by Member Legislative Assembly Ashwani Kumar, inaugurated DRS Kids International School.
At Nanak Nagar Sector-9, the Minister inaugurated Santpura Danna Charitable Trust and a Physiotherapy centre.
Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma, besides prominent citizens of the area were also present on the ocassion.
On the demand of the management of the trust, Mr. Bhalla announced Rs. 10 lakh out of his constituency Development Fund for healthcare equipments.
Member Parliament also announced to donate an ambulance for the institution to facilitate the ailing people.
