JAMMU, Oct 14: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to meet the requirement of drinking water facilities in water deficit areas of the State, adding that for this purpose liberal funding has been earmarked under PHE and ERA for digging of deep drill tubewells and hand pumps.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after laying foundation of 15000 gallon per hour discharge capacity deep drill tubewell at Gangyal near Rajiv Gandhi hospital, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that the deep drill tube well would be handed over to 3731 souls of the Dashmesh Nagar and Gangyal in the month of February next year under NRWDP Water Supply Scheme (WSS). He asked the executing agency to complete the project within stipulated time frame. He said the construction of deep drill tube well including replacing of worn out water supply pipes of Dashmesh Nagar, 30,000 gallon storage capacity OHT, construction of damages on berms besides restoration of digging portion of road would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.94 crore.
The Minister said after commissioning of tubewell, house of Gangyal and Dashmesh Nagar would remain without adequate drinking water facilities. He said Government has issued directions to PHE and ERA to put their sincere efforts in providing adequate drinking water facilities to every house of every corner of the State so that the people do not feel any inconvenience due to shortage of this vital requirement.
Regarding upgradation of healthcare facilities in Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Gangyal, Mr. Bhalla said that Government has prepared a plan of Rs 48 crore for construction of 100 bed hospital in the premises.
He said the hospital would also be equipped with all modern and specialised healthcare facilities like administrative block, garages, toilet blocks, canteen and parking slot. He said the hospital would also be equipped with CT scan machine, X-ray, laboratory, resuscitation room, analyzer room, blood bank, physiotherapy skin, ultra sound, orthopaedics and other major treatment facilities.
Earlier, the Minister also laid foundation stone for development of recreational park along the revered pond near Shri Radha Krishen Temple at Deeli. He said the public place has been developed with illumination, walkway, irrigation, seating and drinking water facilities by December this year. He asked the locals to avoid waste inside the pond.
Regarding filling of fresh water in the revered pond, he asked the accompanied JMC engineer to re-watering the pond, remove debris through pump sets then fill it with fresh water.
