JAMMU, Aug 9: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla on Saturday conducted whirlwind tour of Gandhi Nagar constituency and launched various development works.
Mr. Bhalla inaugurated blacktopping work of lanes at Sant Nagar in Lower Gadigarh which was a long pending demand of the people of the area. The Minister also kick started renovation work of Christian Graveyard in Satwari area.
The Minister while speaking on the occasion said that Government is committed to provide durable assets to people at their doorsteps. He said that to improve power scenario in Lower Gadigarh and its adjoining areas 16.3 MV receiving station would be made soon. He issued on-spot instruction to PDD and PHE authorities to provide electric poles and lay water pipes in Lower Gadigarh and its adjoining areas so that the people living in these areas do not face any inconvenience.
He also inaugurated construction work of tube-well at Channi Rama with a capacity of 70,000 gallon storage capacity being constructed by Public Health Engineering Department at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 lakh.
The Minister said that with the completion of the project, the day to day need of potable drinking water in water stressed and uncovered areas would be mitigated to possible extent. He said that 10 Over Head Tanks (OHTs) in Channi Rama and its adjoining areas would be constructed soon by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA). The Minister instructed executing agencies to complete these development works in a time bound manner.
The Minster while addressing the gathering at Channi Rama said that several mega developmental projects under Health, Education, Power, PHE, R&B, PHE and other vital sectors have been completed in last five and half years and rest are at different stages of execution. He said that special thrust was being laid to development and to provide durable infrastructure to the peripheries at par with the urban pockets.
The Minister also inaugurated Renovated Office Building of Deputy General Manager Housing Board Unit II Shastri Nagar and asked the officers to work with zest and zeal to provide best possible services to the people.
The Minister also inspected pace of work of Multipurpose Community Hall at Gandhi Nagar being constructed at a cost of Rs. 1 crore by J&K Housing Board. The Minster asked the MD J&K Housing Board, Ram Pal Sharma to gear up men and machinery for early completion of the project so that people of the area can arrange social and religious functions.
Later, Mr Bhalla attended a function which was organized by J&K Medical Employees Federation to felicitate Dr. U.K. Padha for getting State Meritorious Award at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar.
Director Health Services Jammu, Baljeet Singh Pathnia, Medical Superintendents, faculty members besides para-medical staff was also present on the occasion.
