JAMMU, Jan 30: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today inaugurated parking lot near Jammu University (JU) auditorium, completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 60 lakh by Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Kiran Wattal, Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority (JDA) Kuldeep Raj Khajuria, Administrator Jammu University D L Choudhary besides other senior officers from JDA and JMC were also present on the occasion.
Interacting with the gathering of students and faculty members of Jammu University, Mr. Bhalla said that the place would facilitate the students, visitors, organizers of various functions as well as faculty members for parking their vehicles to avoid traffic congestion within the complex.
The Minister further said that the Government has framed a comprehensive plan to facilitate the people with all infrastructural facilities across the State.
Earlier, Mr. Bhalla visited Nanak Nagar Sector-8 and kick started construction work of lanes and drains with grating facilities, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 9.5 lakh.
The Minister asked the JMC to complete the allotted works within stipulated time frame by using quality material. He warned that there would be no compromise on the quality of work adding that the Government was committed to create durable infrastructure with a prospective planning.
Mr. Bhalla said that Government has started development in all the periphery localities in the urban pockets under new comprehensive plan envisaging creation of adequate infrastructure for improvement of basic amenities.
The Minister said people’s participation is imperative in the development of the state as they are the main stakeholders in this process. He called upon the people to extend their cooperation and keep a watch on the implementation of schemes for better results on the ground.
Mr. Bhalla also directed the PHE functionaries to lay water supply pipes in the water deficit areas of the Nanank Nagar, Sector-8 besides plugging leakages.
Later, the Minister also attended a ‘Gala’ programme organised in the premises of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar.
On the occasion, Mr. Bhalla distributed lucky draw prizes like Yamaha Bike, LED TV, Microwave Oven and other attractive consolation prizes among the winners of Bal Mela Cum Science Exhibition held recently at R M Public School, Chouadi.
Galaxy of dignitaries and guests graced the occasion with their auspicious presence Joint Director School Education H R Pakhroo, Trustee R M Charitable and Educational Trust Smt Rita Mengi.
