JAMMU, Sept 8: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today called upon the teacher fraternity to impart quality education to the children and also imbibe moral values in them to make them good citizens.
“Our children are highly talented and there is a need to channelize their energies in a proper way so that they can excel and compete at All India level competitions”, the Minister said while addressing a large gathering after inaugurating Computer Lab at Naveen Shiksha Niketan (NSN) High School at Channi Himmat, here today.
Listing the Government initiatives under the education sector, Mr. Bhalla said that several measures have been taken to improve the educational standard in the State, adding that focused attention was being paid to improve the infrastructure. He said yet there was scope for improvement and providing quality education to the students in a scientific manner.
The Minister said the Centre was providing sufficient funds under education schemes like SSA and RMSA under which thousands of schools have been opened and upgraded.
Terming education as an important sector, the Minister said that the Government has prioritized to extend the access of education to every nook and corner with a special thrust on better infrastructure and sufficient staff. He said that there was an urgent need to protect and save the humanity from sins, evils and crimes and education was the only means for the same.
He also stressed that the moral education was needed to be incorporated and included in the curriculum. He said moral education should be one of the component in the curriculum adding that moral education was the first step for spiritual education. He said moral education modifies and moralizes the behavior of the learners, adding that it shapes and builds the students. He said a teacher has to become a role model for the students as they have a decisive role in shaping the destiny of the students.
