Talking to media-persons after a party meeting at JKPCC headquarters here today, Bhalla launched a scathing attack on the administration, alleging that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are facing unprecedented hardships due to administrative failure and anti-people policies. He said unemployment among educated youth has reached alarming levels, while inflation and rising prices of essential commodities have badly affected middle-class and economically weaker families.
Bhalla stated that the government has failed to create meaningful employment opportunities and alleged that the private sector and tourism industry have suffered setbacks, further worsening the economic situation in the Union Territory. He highlighted the plight of daily wagers, contractual employees and temporary workers who continue to protest for regularization and release of pending wages.
Calling for restoration of democratic institutions Bhalla said the absence of full Statehood has widened the gap between the administration and the common people. He alleged that governance in J&K has become heavily bureaucratic, leaving citizens disconnected from the decision-making process.
Former Minister Mula Ram expressed serious concern over the extensive crop damage caused by recent hailstorms in several rural areas. He said farmers have suffered heavy losses at a time when they are already struggling with rising agricultural input costs and unpredictable weather conditions. He demanded that the administration immediately conduct a comprehensive assessment of damages and provide adequate compensation to affected farmers.
Former Ministers Abdul Majeed Wani and Jugal Kishore Sharma stressed the need of strengthening the organization at the grass root level. They said the women and youth needed to be involved in the organization and  be given due representation in the formation of  District Committee, Block and booth level committees.
Earlier, JKPCC Jammu Rural District organized a district-level meeting at the PCC office, Jammu to deliberate upon pressing public issues confronting the people. The meeting was organized by District president, Neeraj Kundan. Meeting witnessed participation from Block presidents, Sarpanchs, Panchs and senior Congress functionaries from various rural and urban areas of Jammu district. Besides reviewing organizational matters, the leaders also discussed strategy for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections.
