Bhalla cautions people against nefarious designs of BJP

JAMMU, Dec 1: Senior Congress leader and former Minister, Raman Bhalla today cautioned the people of Jammu region against the nefarious designs of BJP and its leaders.
While interacting with the people of Darap Panchayat in Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla said that Congress is well prepared for Assembly elections and expressed hope that Congress will emerge victorious as people of Jammu have made up their mind to teach a lesson to BJP. There is a strong resentment among the people against previous BJP-PDP Government as it has not fulfilled its promises made at the time of Assembly elections.
While criticizing BJP, Bhalla said that agenda of alliance was nothing but an eye wash for the people and added that BJP has taken Jammu and Ladakh for granted and has failed to recognize the developmental priorities and represent the aspirations of the people. He said that BJP failed to represent the sentiments and deliver the promises it made to the electorate and has been merely indulging in rhetoric to emotionally charge the people for their political interests.
He said the concern of people of the State and the entire nation is restoration of peace and normalcy by containing militancy in Kashmir valley and to address the current unrest which is taking toll of people, fresh recruitment and their increasing attacks, targeting security forces is a matter of great concern. He said that merely strong worded statements would not help to control the situation on the ground.
Stating that the previous regime threw all rules and regulations to winds”, Bhalla said, high profile appointments were made without following the set protocol and appointed unqualified and undeserving candidates” to the plum posts corridors of power. Ridiculing BJP leaders for taking claims of initiating developmental activities, Bhalla said that all promising made by BJP leaders confined only on papers.
He further said that while enjoying powers with PDP, BJP leaders always created hurdle in conducting Panchayat elections in J&K. “By delaying Panchayat elections, BJP had deprived residents of rural areas of their democratic right”, he said.
