JAMMU, May 6: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla has pooh-poohed PDP-BJP Government’s claims of developmental initiatives and alleged that the present regime was only renaming and taking credit of the schemes launched by then UPA Government at Centre and NC-Congress at J&K.
Bhalla said this while addressing a public meeting at Rohi Morh area of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Reacting over the inauguration of Bikram Chowk fly over today, Bhalla reminded that the foundation stone on Rs 75 crore project was laid on 26 May 2013 by then Congress alliance Govt in J&K. “Despite huge mandate to BJP in Jammu city, elected representatives have failed to bring any new projects for the city and they are only trying to take credit for the projects already sanctioned and started by the Congress,” he said and added that there was great need for more flyovers to deal with traffic congestion in the area but the present regime was least bothered about the same.
The senior Congress leader further reminded that the work done on Udhampur-Katra route was also initiated by the UPA Government and now the BJP was taking credit for it. He also listed a number of others projects, such as construction of Teachers Bhawan at Gandhi Nagar, Four Laning and up gradation of Satwari-Kunjwani road, construction of modern auditorium near Government Girls High School Gandhi Nagar, Upgradation of drainage system be it nallah or small drains upgraded by funding of ERA, which were initiated by then Congress Government. He challenged the BJP leaders to identify a single development project which has been sanctioned for Jammu and Kashmir, especially for Chenab region, since NDA led by BJP came into power at the Centre.
The BJP has 25 MLAs, including 3 in all the city constituencies but the traffic scenario of the winter capital is deteriorating day by day and there is no plan under consideration of Government for its solution,” Bhalla pointed out.
The meeting was organized by Panch Santosh Kumari at Rohi Morh.
