Bhagat Mahasabha celebrates birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule

JAMMU, Jan 17: Bhagat Mahasabha here today organized a function to celebrate the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, first lady teacher of India.
Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof. Raj Kumar Bhagat, national president of Bhagat Mahasabha and the function started with garlanding the portrait of Savitribai Phule.
Mahinder Bhagat, J&K president of Mahasabha while speaking on the occasion talked about the life of Savitribai Phule and mentioned about challenges she faced in starting the first school for girls.
Pawan Bhagat, Mahasabha chairman also spoke on the occasion while Jai Bhagat, advisor spoke on the role Phule played in improving women’s rights in India.
Prof. Raj Kumar Bhagat said that Savitribai died a heroic death while trying to save the life of a plague patient as she carried him on her back to the hospital after which she too caught plague and died on March 10, 1897.
On this occasion Indu Bhagat daughter of Sansar Chand Bhagat was unanimously elected as Mahila Wing’s youth president of Marh block.
The other who were present on the occasion were Bodh Raj Bhagat, national vice president; Roshan Lal Bhagat, coordinator Punjab; Tersem Bhagat, Vivek Bhagat, Sunesh Bhagat, Sudesh Bhagat, Naresh Bhagat, Sansar Chand Bhagat, K.K Darora, Sita Ram Bhagat and Darshan Lal Bhagat.
