Bhagat launches MMP for registration of construction workers

SRINAGAR, July 15: Commissioner Secretary Labour & Employment Department, Saurabh Bhagat today launched the Mission Mode Project (MMP) for registration of construction workers with J&K Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).
The MMP was launched through video conference with all Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Labour Commissioners.
B.H. Qaifi, Director Finance, Labour & Employment Department; Abdul Rashid War, Labour Commissioner; Showkat Ahmad, Additional Secretary Labour & Employment Department; Surinder Sharma and other concerned attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that J&K BOCWWB providing relief to the active workers including special covid-19 relief of Rs 4000 in each workers account.
This relief has been provided on account of financial distress due to covid-19, it was given out.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners were informed that 4th instalment of special COVID-19 relief has been approved by the UT Government recently and it should reach the active workers through Adhaar based DBT account.
Districts were given targets under Mission Mode Project for coverage of J&KBOCWWB workers and relaxation has been provided to condone delay in registration during month long campaign from 15th July to 15th August, it was informed.
The meeting also discussed that it is envisaged that about 3 lakh workers would be added to the present number of 1.70 lakh workers in order to provide coverage and relief to the migrant workers during covid-19.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioners assured that all necessary steps shall be taken in achieving objectives of the Mission Mode Project of Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India.
Later, Commissioner Secretary also reviewed the progress of several welfare schemes of the Department viz Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Scheme (PM-SYM), NPS-Traders, Atal Pension Yojana, PMBSY, Abolition of Bonded Labour Act, Eradication of Child Labour and other issues related to Labour & Employment Department.
