RAJOURI, Sept 12: Showing solidarity with the people of the State, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah Rajouri has come forward to help in the relief operations and all the employees have donated their one day salary towards the CM Relief fund. The students of the University have also volunteered to collect donations for providing relief to the affected population and to augment the efforts of the Government for providing prompt relief.
Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal said that in this tough time, University fraternity stood with affected people of the State.
It is pertinent to mention here that there are hundreds of students from Kashmir Valley who are enrolled in BGSBU’s various courses and are residing in the hostels. Although some of them have not been able to contact with family members and are under stress, they are busy with their studies.
About problems faced by the University in flood situations, Vice Chancellor said that University was also affected in the recent situation; however they worked on war footing and restored all essential services. He said that there has been acute shortage of potable water and presently water is being supplied through tankers, besides internal resource mobilization with assistance from the district administration. The water supply scheme is being restored by the concerned agencies.
