RAJOURI, Sept 25: To draw the awareness among young students about the need and importance of books and to provide faculty members an opportunity to browse, choose and select books on the spot on a range of subject areas of their interest at one place, the Central Library, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah (BGSB) University, Rajouri organized a two day book exhibition on the campus.
The book lovers from various teaching department thronged the venue to its capacity and made best of the event. The Central Library of university strengthened and enriched its collection by adding some latest books pertaining to teaching and research interest of the university academia.
Earlier, Prof I A Hamal, Vice-Chancellor, BGSB University, formally inaugurated the book exhibition in presence of students, scholars and teachers of the university.
Apart from heads of various teaching departments, those who were present on the occasion include M.R Chowdhary, Registrar BGSB University, Prof A K Koul Dean, Academic Affairs, Mohd. Ishaq, Controller Examination, Suneet Gupta, Special Secretary to VC along with other officers of the university.
VC mentioned about the paradigm shift in the information seeking behaviour of users following the use of e-resources. But that should not undermine the importance of print documents, he added and said that organizing book exhibitions in libraries itself is a novel way to inculcate reading habits among students and to become a devote library users
