RAJOURI, Apr 2: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University has announced holding of its 2nd Convocation in mid-May in which meritorious scholars will be awarded Gold Medals and pass outs of 2013 & 2014 will receive their degrees.
In connection with the arrangements for the proposed event, a meeting of all Head of the Departments along with senior officers of University was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad Hamal to discuss various arrangements for the convocation.
Terming the event as historic, Prof Hamal said that despite being at initial stages, BGSBU was still competing with the established universities in academic, research and other co-curricular activities. He further said that in a short span of time, University has added many feathers in its cap. Though the University is located in remote area, sufficient efforts to induct qualified and talented faculty is made, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that after establishment of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in 2005, University held first Convocation in December 2012 with internationally acclaimed business tycoon M R Narayana Murthy as chief guest.
This time, the event will be attended by acclaimed dignitaries across the State and country.
Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal recently held meeting with Chancellor and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in which the decision of holding 2nd Convocation was taken following which Vice Chancellor has directed all Departments to gear up for the event and a notification for registration has been issued for which April 24 has been fixed as last date. University has advised all passouts to register before the last date.
