RAJOURI, Jan 13: Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha (BGM) lodged strong protest against non-implementation of Centrally sponsored schemes for the welfare of ST community, by blocking road at Lam Nowsherra, here today.
The protestors alleged that the benefit of Centrally sponsored schemes is not reaching to the beneficiaries and there are large scale bunglings in the funds received from Government of India since 1991.
Demanding an enquiry, the protestors also alleged that there are also bunglings in creation of model villages.
Speaking on the occasion, president of BGM Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal said that funds have been shown to be utilized but there is no ground-work as for as model villages are concerned.
They also demanded that there should be a separate administrative department for Tribal Affairs in the State Government. Officers should be appointed at tehsil level for proper implementation of Tribal Sub plan.
Large number of people from Pukhrani, Campla, Laroka, Lam Dhara, Guni Kallar, Lehara, Doni Bhalla, Challa and Thandi Kassi in Nowsherra participated in the protest.
The procession began from bus stand Nowshera and finally presented a memorandum to Tehsildar for further submission to the Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri.
