JAMMU, Feb 21: Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha today criticized the Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, Taj Mohi-ud-Din for his failure to do anything for the upliftment of Scheduled Tribe community of the State.
Addressing a press conference here today, State president, BGM, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, said the Minister in the name of being a representative of ST community is enjoying a political power and position but has done nothing for the cause and concerns of ST community of the State.
Poswal pointed out that no leader in power has bothered to share with the ignorant and illiterate Schedule Tribe masses about how much Central grant meant for Schedule Tribe pours into the State’s hand and how that is applied. The volume of the Central grant coming for ST community of the State by this time should have elevated the Schedule Tribe community out of its difficulties but the youth of ST community is being misguided so as to keep them confined to their ignorance zone so that they do not aspire to become encouraged and enlightened to be leaders, civil servants, social business, social workers and political thinkers in the State, he added.
He raised the issue of acts of ommission and commission which are pending inquiry and investigation before the Vigilance Organization of the State.
He urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to lend BGM leaders an audience and have direct assessment of the pulse of the ST community instead of acting on the mis-feed of the person like Taj Mohi-ud-Din and his select sycophants.
