Better halves in business

Sir,
Becoming an MLA is important but being the better half(wife or husband) of an MLA is most important and a matter of pride because they are the persons who are often given free hand in the exercise of the powers on behalf(not bythe constitution) of the MLAs. Presiding over the public and private functions, conducting meetings of the administrations and giving them dictations, issuing instructions, inaugurating the public buildings, interfering in the matter of administration by these better halves has become custom and convention in the state these days. Delegating powers to the better halves has added a new channel in the administration in addition to the red tape which has already got on the nerves of the people and which the people want to get rid of. Sharing of powers with the better halves have facilitated the MLAs to attend the offices and the assembly sessions with great ease while rest of the work is left to the discretion of the better halves. The division of work has equipped them with the powers pertaining to the transfers of the sycophants, their adjustments, out of the way promotions and powers of posting their fans on the lucrative posts.
In order to win the sympathy of the second line administration, the Government employees dance to their tunes both times of the day, because their promotions, transfers and adjustments depend much upon their frowns and favors.  The people who have to attend different offices for their personal matters prefer taking a chit from them instead of standing in queue for along time. No doubt this system has helped many of their relations and sycophants getting the undue favors but at the same time this second line of administration is proving detrimental for the smooth conduct of the democratic institutions in the state. The deserving persons who do not have access either to their MLAs or their better halves are the greatest sufferers in the state. This unconstitutional practice of delegating the powers to the better halves, instead of doing any good, is rendering much harm to the democratic practices in the state. The tradition of  sharing of the powers with the better halves by the MLAs and their unwarranted interference in the affairs of governance be firmly done away with at once, otherwise, this convention will definitely paralyze the working of the Government one day.
Yours etc…..
