SRINAGAR, Apr 5: National Conference (NC) candidate for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency, Dr Mehboob Beigh, today urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take serious note of the “forged documents” submitted by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti before the Returning Officer.
Dr Beigh told a news conference in Anantnag this evening that Mehbooba has misused her official position and misled Election Commission by submitting “forged documents”.
Beigh’s allegation came after Mehbooba filed a second set of nomination papers after some discrepancies were reported in her earlier nomination papers.
The NC leader asked that if April 1 was the bank holiday, how come the documents related to that date were submitted before the Returning Officer. He urged the ECI to investigate the matter thoroughly and stern action be taken against Mehbooba.
Meanwhile, NC-Congress urged its workers and activists to gear up for the forthcoming polls in South Kashmir’s Anantnag constituency and ensure a smooth win for NC candidate Dr Mehboob Beigh.
The coordination meet that was held at Anantnag today was attended by senior leaders including Peerzada Sayeed, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Choudhry Mohammad Ramzan and Dr Mehboob Beigh and all district presidents of both the parties.
The leaders urged their party workers to kick start their activities on ground at an earliest. Mir said that the Congress has directed its cadres in South Kashmir to ensure NC candidates win.
