RAJOURI, Jan 3: Begonara Sports Club defeated GDC Thannamandi by 49 runs in the inaugural tie of Cricket tournament, organised by Thannamandi Youth Club at Thannamandi, here today.
Bagonara Sports Club scored 145 runs, while GDC Thannamandi bundled out at 96 runs, wherein Shoket Iqbal was declared as man of the match for his outstanding performance.
Principal GDC Thannamandi Mohd Farooq along with Tehsildar Thannamandi Sahil Ali Shah inaugurated the tournament at GDC Thannamandi Ground as chief guest. “The championship is being organised with an aim to infuse sportsmanship, camaraderie and brotherhood among the youth of Thannamandi and also to channelize their energy in the positive direction,” the chief guest said.
The Tehsildar said that it’s need of hour to organize such sporting events as it will keep youth physically as well as mentally fit. He also appreciated the Club for organizing such events.
President Press Council Thannamandi Imran Khan, Dr Athar Aziz Raina, Prof Muhammad Shoket, Shazad Ahmed Raina, Irfan Mirza and Iftar Samyal were also present during the event.
A total of 20 teams from District Rajouri are participating in the tournament.
